How did you ever come up with the name ‘4 Noses’ for your brewing company? It’s a common question heard among the many visitors who gather on the patio of the Broomfield brewery. It’s a weekend dream location for many Colorado beer connoisseurs as they enjoy a flight of unique and classic style beverages, with the western facing partially covered patio adorned with trailing vines, roaring fire pits, Fido at your side, and a majestic mountain view that wraps your day up in a bow. But truly, ‘4 Noses’ for the name of an outstanding brewery must have a story behind it.
The story begins in 2008 in Ireland for a 50th birthday celebration. A family of four were gathered in a dark pub “inhaling the rich smell of [their] dry Guinness beers, all four of [their] large noses in action.” A close friend observed the four family members nose deep in their glasses, embracing the signature notes of roasted barley, caramel, coffee, and chocolate, when it sparked a beautiful idea to share their love and passion for beer by brewing their own formulas. Four Noses Brewing Company was born in that dark pub, in Ireland and the name honors and commemorates the family’s signature feature. Now THAT is a story worth telling!
The Bibliowicz family opened 4 Noses Brewing in Broomfield, Colorado on May 8, 2014 and it has been a thriving and successful location since inception. The flagship location opened the twenty-barrel brewhouse along with a two-barrel pilot system and was able to host around 100 people before the patio expansion took place. Today the taproom offers over twenty beers on tap, 22 cans to-go, 10 bottles to-go and a choice of 7 crowlers and growlers to-go. Quite frankly the brewing operation in Broomfield was bursting at the seams, and the Bibliowicz family began looking for additional opportunities to expand their foot print to continue to share their passion and love for the beers they proudly brew.
In 2020 the family expanded their foot print by opening the Wild Provisions Beer Project in Boulder, Colorado which was a continuation of the 4 Noses Brewing mission; to explore new methods and techniques to perfect the many beers they are passionate about. In addition to the new taproom, the family was searching for a production facility and acquired Odd13 Brewing in Lafayette, Colorado in October 2021. But they didn’t stop there. The Bibliowicz made plans to open a massive production facility of their own as well as a new taproom in Denver, Colorado near Park Hill.
The 4 Noses brand was certainly making waves and expanding quickly. The new production facility called for a 22,000 square foot brewery retrofit, a new boiler and steam piping design, drainage system, CO2 detection system, emergency ventilation system, emergency showers, ventilation for malt-cracking, brewery water filtration system, solids interceptor for process waste, a new HVAC and plumbing design for the taproom and an office remodel design. This was a tall order and the family was looking for a team of engineers who had experience with process systems and a history of working with prominent brewery’s and distilleries. 4 Noses co-founder and Master Brewer, Tommy Bibliowicz reached out to Rick Saba, CEO of Thompson Engineering, to explain his vision for this new facility and the intricacies that would be necessary for their process. Rick’s extensive experience and confidence allowed the Bibliowicz family to entrust our team with their newest endeavor. Our team of engineers has been working closely with the team of architects, electrical engineers and the Bibliowicz family to deliver on their dream of sharing their creativity and passion for brewing with family and friends. Our team honors the tradition, craftsmanship and vision required to create these unique and extraordinary brews and we are humbled and honored to work alongside some of the most passionate and talented Brew Masters.
