Role Description: The Field Engineer is responsible for performing site observations and field related tasks to support the organization and its team. The field engineer provides project technical support in areas of evaluation, coordination and distribution of project specific information, authorizations, project performance, and status. Maintain current documentation to ensure project data, compliance, budget and schedule.
Exercises discretion and independent judgment on a regular basis to perform tasks in furtherance of the organization and client needs.
Job Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to,
• Functional knowledge of contracts, drawings and specifications to evaluate and ensure relation and compliance to project requirements with PM
• Relevant field experience/knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems
• Obtain and maintain data, information, communication, and approvals required by project and company requirements
• Participate/support in project meetings as requested by PM
• Meet with the PM to review and debrief before and after
• Coordinate “Moon Walk” (site visit) with PM
• Perform “Moon Walk” either alone or alongside PM
• Commissioning as required by commissioning authority
• Punch walks
• Internal and external closeout including punch walks, as-builts and associated reports if required
• Provide all services and objectives to ensure the quality of Thompson Engineering’s services
• Performs independent analysis and evaluation of change orders and provides recommendations to project leadership
• Uphold safety standards while performing job duties including travel
• Download all documents from moon walk to company server within 24 hours
• Prepare all equipment required for moon walk 1 day in advance
• Log job time/cost as well as detailed tasks performed
